PORTER RYAN FRANCIS March 3, 2008 August 28, 2008 After a brave battle against hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), our sweet son, Porter Ryan Francis, can finally rest. Porter now accepts his new role as proud guardian angel over his sister, Hudson, whose donation of bone marrow created a unique and unbreakable bond that will live forever. During Porter's brief time in our arms, he taught us many lessons of hope, love, and simplicity. His infectious smile showed us how to slow down to enjoy small pleasures of snuggles, songs, and giggles. It will be in these stolen moments where he is remembered: in sunrises, in soft breezes, and in laughter. Porter lived as though he knew his time with us was fleeting: waking up in the night to play, smiling at literally everyone he met, and never squirming away as he was smothered with kisses and hugs. During his final hours, Dad read Porter storybooks and Mom sang lullabies. Porter blessfully found solace cradled in his parents' arms listening to soft gratitude for being such a brave and loving boy. Tannis, Ryan, and Hudson would like to thank our parents, family, friends, and colleagues for their support throughout Porter's valiant fight. Special thanks to the PICU, CK-5, and Cancer Care staff at Children's Hospital for their support and care of our son. A celebration of Porter will be held Tuesday, September 2, 7:00 p.m., at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. We ask all to bring a small toy or stuffed animal to the service for a mass donation in Porter's name to the Children's Hospital.
